WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Just because there’s a lot of hype doesn’t mean you shouldn’t believe it. If Surf Lodge had a motto, that would be it. Probably the most talked about place in Montauk, and maybe on the east end, Surf Lodge was almost like the Lewis & Clark of the post-millennium Montauk revival. (They pioneered it.)
The Lodge is a great place to stay if you want to be at the center of all the action. While it’s not in the center of Montauk town itself, the restaurant and bar are a hopping hub at seemingly all waking hours of Montauk life. The rooms are decked out in contemporary surf chic, with beautiful wall art and quirky hanging chairs that are just perfect for…sitting. The beds are all by Casper, so if you’ve ever wanted to try one out, well, here’s your chance. The resort also offers free bike rentals and wellness events, like yoga out on the deck.
The restaurant is an east end crowdpleaser, with selections to satisfy even the most broad ranging of groups. We’d steer towards the crab papardelle or just going in on the raw bar. Nights at the Lodge tend to be more focused on drinks and partying anyhow, and cocktail list does not disappoint. We’re partial to the Hola Nola, but tell me, who among us can turn away a good passion fruit mojito? (No one. And not even the sixth.)
The Surf Lodge hosts a concert series all summer long, so stay tuned closer to the season for updates on that.
