WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Like its sister restaurant, CowFish, Rumba is bringing fine dining back to Hampton Bays. It’s decidedly more chilled out vibe and island flavors will make you wonder whether the view you’re taking in is in New York, New Providence (the Bahamas).
People drive in from all over to get a taste of what the kitchen at Rumba’s dishing out, namely, some of the best Caribbean-inspired food most of us have ever encountered, even in the Caribbean itself. Don’t miss out on the duck empanadas to start, but save the Dominican ribs for your main course.
There’s likely to be a wait for dinner, especially on summer weekends, but don’t let that dissuade you. Grab a pitcher of rum punch and head down to the water to take in the view. And, as with CowFish, you can always take the free boat shuttle between the two restaurants during the summer for an even better view of the inlet.
Pro tip: their coconut martini is the best drink we’ve possibly ever had. Ever.
