WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Want to find great Mexican out east? Follow the cars heading out of Ditch Plains after a long day surfing. You’ll find that more than a few make a pit-stop at La Fondita in Amagansett. The “little kitchen” just off Montauk Highway serves up amazing iterations of classic casual Mexican fare (e.g., tacos, burritos, ‘dillas, etc.).
If you’ve been to Mexico and long for the authentic flavors and format of traditional street food, these guys can satisfy that craving while sparing you the cost of a plane ticket. For the truly authentic, turn up on Fridays for the al pastor tacos, a weekly special served with pineapple per tradition.
Pro tip: If you’ve never had a “torta” before (Mexican-style hero sandwich), we’d highly recommend.
