When we first launched Dune Road Lifestyle, we wanted to put together a guide to the best places to eat and drink in the Hamptons. We made a spreadsheet, jotted down all the top restaurants and bars, and wrote up short blog posts about each of them. That blog is what started it all.
Since then, we’ve started working on other stuff. We’ve gotten busy with other things. And a little thing called the COVID-19 pandemic threw our lives for a loop. Moreover, it threw the scene out east for one too.
With all the changes that have happened, and are bound to happen, it’s going to take a lot of work to keep The DRL Hamptons Guide up to date. And frankly, we’re not here for it.
See, the way in which we found users engaging with our content wasn’t by checking our database of top spots, but wanting to know what’s hot now. Current. Relevant today. And a guide that works like a list of classics…that’s just not what people need.
So, we’ll be continuing to cover the best bars and restaurants (and other spots) out east, but we’ll be doing it in real-time; in one-off posts that shoot more to capture the essence of an experience, rather than a collection of posts that try to be comprehensive.
We won’t catch everything, but we will serve feels. And in 2022 (and the future), that’s what counts.
The posts below are (in publication order) our old posts from The Dune Road Lifestyle Hamptons Guide. These are summaries that reflect the best of out east, and current only as of Summer 2021. Some spots might have closed down; new ones might’ve come up. You’ll just have to check out our new content (Insta, TikTok) to stay up on the latest.
Shou Sugi Ban House is a gorgeously minimalist wellness spa and retreat located in Water Mill.
The Reform Club in Amagansett offers beautifully curated getaways to the Hamptons. If a high-end recharge is what you need, this is where you want to be.
The Frozen Anchor seems like it’s run by a band of mad scientists hellbent on creating the most gorgeous, gram-worthy ice cream confections we can–and couldn’t possibly–think of.
Bostwick’s On The Harbor is a cure for waiting hours and hours for chowder at the OG Bostwick’s. And yet, it’s also so, so much more.
There’s a ton of places to dine by the sunset out east, but Beacon in Sag Harbor is one of the best among them. A sister restaurant to Bell & Anchor and Fresno, Beacon takes the idea of “Refined New American” further up a notch, with plating and execution to rival restos in NYC and beyond.
There’s just so much for us to say about Armin & Judy that we don’t quite know where to begin. We covered their opening on our Features blog some time ago, and they’ve quickly become one of our go-to spots when traversing the vast reaches of Bridgehampton.
Argento will never replace Silver’s, the legendary Southampton eatery which occupied the same space for almost a century. It isn’t trying to, and frankly, it shouldn’t. Instead, the expert culinary and hospitality team behind Hamptons fave Dopo La Spiaggia is coming to you with a new concept set to broaden carnivore horizons in Southampton.
Sundae Donuts combines the two most important food groups (ice cream and donuts) into treats that’re perfect after a long day at the beach. The place may be packed with kids screaming for more sugar, but if you can handle it, a trip inside is highly recommended.
Sel Rrose brings the excellence of the NYC mixology scene to Montauk in a venue that’s quintessentially east end. Helmed by veteran NYC bar owner Kristin Vincent (of Sel Rrose (the NYC version), Fig. 19 and Home Sweet Home fame), the Hamptons iteration of her house of mixology is poised to serve up the same level of cocktail in a far more relaxed setting.
With one of the most irreverent sense of humor we’ve ever seen from a restaurant, K PASA is a taqueria in Sag Harbor that’s in it to win it. Recently launched by the team behind Sen (another Sag Harbor favorite), this new Mexican spot brings the spice both on the plate and in everything else they do.
Adding to the chic hotel scene dotting the east end is The Roundtree, now open in Amagansett. In a town that’s known for its laidback luxury vibes, The Roundtree is an overwhelming success at fitting in.
Looking for a small luxury resort experience that’s in touch with the boating and maritime vibes of the Hamptons? Baron’s Cove in Sag Harbor is ready to deliver.
As a Hamptons go-to for celebrities and locals alike, Dopo La Spiaggia’s two locations out east are perfect for a casual but elevated lunch or dinner.
The Hamptons are a definitely known for having a certain cachet, and if you want to hit up a dinner spot where you can see and be seen, then Le Bilboquet in Sag Harbor is where you need to be.
