Ah, Westhampton. The chill Hampton. The relaxed Hampton. The too cool to be cool but still cool Hampton. That’s Westhampton.

And if you’re thinking about spending a weekend in Westhampton, keep reading to learn everything you need to know first.

Westhampton is the closest Hampton to NYC / the rest of the world if you’re traveling by car. Say goodbye to the traffic on Montauk Highway; you won’t be going through hell in experiencing it if you’re headed to Westhampton. Just take the LIE to Manorville, head down to Sunrise Hwy., bang a right at Exit 63S and you’re headed straight into town.

Montauk might be the place in the Hamptons that’s best known for surfing. If that’s true, then Westhampton is the Hamptons’ best kept surfing secret. The break at Road K is one of our personal faves, but sandbars shift as they do, so hunt around, or ask a local.

Also, Westhampton is a better spot for a weekend getaway in a sweet AirBnB with some friends, as you won’t find as much of a party scene or nightlife as you might in some of the other areas out east.

In terms of eats, you absolutely CANNOT go wrong with The Patio, with an eclectic yet beachy menu that’s sure to please.

Our hidden gem in Westhampton, though, is also our favorite greasy spoon diner in the entire world: The Apron Cafe. Located inside the FBO at Gabreski Airport, these guys serve up colossal portions of breakfast faves and are a perfect pit-stop when you’re hungry and it’s morning.
